Following MARK HEARLD’s success in our ‘AUTUMN FEAST’ exhibition, we now have a new selection of his recent original prints. Here are a few of them:
We also have Mark’s ‘Mountain Hare’ and ‘Menagerie Swan’ and a selection of special cards for Christmas, all published by Art Angels:, among them this ‘Winter Wildlife’ die-cut trifold card and his hanging Robin:
EMILY SUTTON has been working her way through the alphabet, designing silkscreen prints of images that spring to mind as we think of each letter. Here is a selection:
and, drawn from their own kitchen dresser at the home she shares with Mark in York is the screenprint:
Cups from this dresser are used to illustrate her delightful folding Calendar for 2016
Emily also excels in creating life-size soft sculptures of song birds, embroidering and painting the fabric from which she forms them. We have two available for Christmas ~ ‘Yellowhammer and Woodlark’. Each costs £350.
Another printmaker whose work is proving popular is ANGELA HARDING, who regularly has illustrations in such magazines as Country Living and Garden Illustrated. She combines the skills of lino-cutting with silkscreen printing. These are from her latest collection:
JOHN MALTBY’s Christmas collection is already selling well, albeit so newly arrived at the gallery! Here are some:
The potter JUDITH ROWE is familiar to many of you who have visited Yew Tree gallery over the years. We are fortunate to have a small collection of new work from her, sent before she set off for a year’s sabbatical in India. This is a selection from what we have:
ROBINA JACK’s beautifully decorated dishes and bowls have nearly all sold! However, we do have this new Godwits bowl and two others:
Another potter with a painterly touch is VICKI WALTON. She now lives in France but still makes collections for Charleston, which she helped to set up in 1986. We still have some lovely examples of her work following her successful showing in ‘Autumn Feast’. (see the image of her tile tray and coffee cups on our Home page)
Hand-built stoneware ceramics by JILL FANSHAWE KATO can be seen on ‘The Great Outdoors’ exhibition page of our website – so do look for that under the ‘Past Shows’ heading.
Mixed media and papier mache automata and feathery creatures are the work of ARDYN GRIFFIN. Impossible to show you the action of the automata on a still photograph! However, the titles may suggest the movement in each of them.
At her home in Worcestershire, Ardyn keeps peacocks, cockerels, hens and guinea fowl who provide her with plenty of feathers for these:
There are two cabinets devoted to the jewellery and sculpture of GUY ROYLE. Since our autumn show, Guy has made us more earrings and bangles. A few of them are illustrated here – and I can photograph others and send them out by email to anyone interested. Although his work sold well in Autumn Feast, some of the sculptures and jewels on the web page for that show are still available – so do have a look at that again too.
plus the bonus of a very special pair of 18ct gold earrings, made by Guy about 15 years ago; the stone is Malachite
RITA SERES’ necklaces are fascinating in their composition – strung from amulets and beads collected on her travels in India, Morocco, Mali and other far-flung countries. Her prices range from £38 - £76, and we always have a good selection.
ALISON DUPERNEX has wonderful colour sense and blends tones and shades beautifully in her silk marl and cashmere scarves . She recently dropped by with some new ones! Prices range from £49 - £76.
Many of you are aware that I am responsible for the archive collection of paintings by CAROLYN WHITE (1945-2013).
Apart from showing some of her Cornwall-based work in The Great Outdoors earlier this year, a Retrospective of over 115 works was held in her home town of Stroud in June. It was wonderfully well attended and sales exceeded all expectations – resulting in £15,000 going into the coffers of SUE RYDER Hospice at Cheltenham for their supportive, caring work. I have since gathered in more of Carolyn’s work which was in storage, to sort, prepare and frame for another showing – possibly in Cheltenham. Meanwhile, I have hung a number of her paintings in the gallery for this Christmas, and there are mounted pastels in the browser too.
And finally – outside in the flower beds (all dormant at the moment!) there are shoals of fish and flocks of birds in mixed metals, by MIKE SAVAGE.
We look forward to welcoming you once again to YEW TREE GALLERY this festive season, and in the coming year.with good wishes, Gilly
