THE YEAR AHEAD
Exciting exhibitions to look forward to at Yew Tree Gallery this season!
‘GENERATIONS’ - a guest exhibition, curated by Christine Feiler, opens on 26th April for three weeks. Centring around the paintings of her mother JUNE MILES (1924-2021) are ceramics by CHRISTINE, paintings by her father PAUL FEILER and her two sons Ben and Paul, as well as sculpture by PAUL MOUNT, June’s second husband. June lived in St Just for many years and several of her paintings reflect the scenery of Penwith, as well as her travels in Spain and France.

Following this on 31st May, TREASURES OF THE MIND reveals a newly discovered cache of remarkable work by JOHN MALTBY – dating from his early years as a potter and model-maker until his death in 2020. Hidden away in cupboards at his home in Devon, this collection includes choice pieces he wanted to keep for himself. A privilege indeed to show them here!

Another rare opportunity in this same exhibition is the offer of original prints by renowned artist – BREON O’CASEY (1928 – 2011). He and John respected each other’s work and showed together in their lifetime.
Crowning the 3D display of the Maltby work will be a distinctive collection of contemporary paintings by TABBY BOOTH. In striking silhouette her stylised animals, birds and insects stand out against a light background, framed in dark wood.
Jewellers NANCY PICKARD and GUY ROYLE and potters KATE SAMPSON and NIGEL LAMBERT add the richness of their vision to this mind enhancing show.
The next exhibition for your diaries is WEB OF LIFE (6th September – 30th October). Exquisite paintings by FIONA OWEN are shown with the delicate ceramics of ANNA LAMBERT, figurative sculpture by ANNA NOEL, paintings by ANDREW WADDINGTON, felt birds by RUSSELL WILSON and TAMSIN ABBOTT’s stained glass panels.
More of this anon! We look forward to welcoming you to YEW TREE GALLERY and its sculpture gardens and hope you enjoy what we have in store for you.
