LESLEY BIRCH reveals a more abstract view of the trees of woodland and forest in her oil painting on wood panels.  Taking inspiration from recent visits to the lake District and Westonbirt Arboretum, she creates pattern from tree trunks and the line of twigs interspersed with sky and foliage, often using lush thick paint with a palette knife. She aims to convey that element of mystery one finds within a forest space.
