MELVYN EVANS has undoubtedly mastered the art of linocut printmaking! The textures and nuances of overlaid colour in his abstract/figurative prints give a depth not usually associated with this genre of work. His colour tones touch on the palettes of those masterly printmakers of the ‘30s and ‘40s – Bawden, Ravilious, et al, yet Melvyn’s work is in no way derivative and shows the freshness of a contemporary eye.
