SOPHIE MacCARTHY has established a reputation for distinctive imagery and a joyous approach to colour in her slip-painted earthenware ceramics.   Coloured slips directly applied to the dry clay surface give spontaneity and tonal depth to her imagery – drawn from the natural world and urban environment. She is particularly fascinated by leaves and the colours and patterns formed as they fall or sway in the wind.
