Sutton Taylor
Yew Tree Gallery

Unique among contemporary ceramicists, SUTTON TAYLOR has followed his own path from the early 1970s. Tackling most challenging techniques, and with the touch of an alchemist, he creates lustrous pots that seem to defy the limitations of the kiln. The iridescence and rich hues arise through layering coloured stains with precious metals, and heating to critical temperatures through multiple firings. Living at the land’s edge in West Cornwall, Sutton finds inspiration through the light’s dance on moorland and sea. His ceramics are housed in many public collections in Britain and abroad.
