TERRY SHONE has developed his unique ceramic style after a lifelong interest in traditional slip-wares and the lively images of C19th Staffordshire flatbacks and figurines. Wild and domestic birds and animals in a contemporary interpretation (often with a humorous twist), are conceived through slab-built and modelled forms, decorated with coloured slips and glazes ~ frequently reworked over several firings with enamels and lustres. These historic techniques, used in new ways, lead to the freshness and immediacy of Terry’s work.
It may be possible to commission one of Terry’s ceramics if any of these illustrated have already sold. Contact Gilly for more information.
