Clay is, of course, earth itself, and this SOPHIE MacCARTHY deftly fashions into classically elegant bowls, large platters, fish dishes and tall jugs with distinctive sweeping handles. She decorates the surfaces in coloured slips, painterly brushwork and wax-resist stencils with an exuberant mel\u00e9e of leaves and stalks from the forest floor. From country origins she has now lived in London for many years and the juxtaposition of the natural world with the urban environment is a particular source of inspiration.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
