ALEX MALCOLMSON’s carved seabirds and mixed media boxworks are a reflection of life on the Shetlands where he grew up. Familiarity with the sea and wildlife in all its aspects gives him the empathy to convey the pure essence of his subjects with total confidence. His maritime framed works suggest intriguing histories of life at sea. Alex exhibits regularly at the Open Eye Gallery, Edinburgh and has recently shown at Sea Winds in his home town of Lerwick to mark the Tall Ships race from Shetland to Norway.
