HELEN MARTINO is a well-established studio potter working in Cambridge.   For many years she made functional pots on the wheel. However, once drawn to attending John Maltby’s Slab Building workshops at Aberystwyth Arts Centre in the early 2000s, she became fascinated by building small sculptures with a narrative element, and invariably, a mischievous sense of humour. Here she shows ‘Angels with Attitude – as they are just leading everyday lives’. Her ‘Dishy Ladies’ have evolved from the bowl form. This little collection is a ‘taster’ of her work as she will be showing a broader range in Yew Tree’s summer exhibition 2023.
