A plein air painter working in mixed media, SAUL CATHCART is drawn to the mists and squalls of the North coast of Cornwall and the Scillies rather than to the bright sun ~ which gives his work a mysterious, atmospheric quality. Using pencil for quick, suggestive contours of rock or cliff, he veers more towards abstraction in the actual painting ~ seizing his moment in the ever changing weather.
